Research Interests
The major research interests: Nucleus Accumbens shell, core and prefrontal cortex dopamine responsiveness to drug of abuse and food. Difference between drug and food conditioned stimuli impact on dopamine transmission in the mesolimbic and mesocortical systems.
Biographical Information
Valentina Bassareo has been Assistant Professor of Pharmacology since 2002. Prior to that she was a Post-doc at the Department of Toxicology of the University of Cagliari (1993-1996 Diploma of Doctoral Degree in Toxicology, Specialization School of “Toxicology”, University of Cagliari and 1996-2001 Diploma of Postdoctoral Degree, University of Cagliari).
